Bristol Early Music Festival - Sponsored by SWEMF
A full timetable of events will be appearing early in the New Year, but here are a few of the highlights to whet your appetite:
- The internationally-renowned instrumental group His Majestys Sagbutts and Cornetts will be joining the Bristol-based vocal ensemble Nova for a concert on the evening of May 7th. Members of His Majestys will also be leading a workshop for wind players on the Saturday afternoon.
- There will be a concert of early chant and polyphony by the Schola Cantorum of the University of Bristol music department on the Sunday evening. Professor Emma Hornby, who directs the choir, will give a short pre-concert talk.
- There will be a number of workshops over the course of the weekend – for recorder players, for singers, and a family workshop devoted to early dance.
- There will be an exhibition of instruments accompanied by talks from instrument-makers on Saturday, and a talk by Poppy Holden on Sunday following her popular contribution to this year’s virtual Festival.
