Part of the furniture – the polyphonic masterpieces we take for granted
A series of talks for SWEMF by David Allinson – Autumn 2020
In an occasional series of illustrated talks made for SWEMF, David Allinson takes a fresh look at pieces so familiar that we may have become blind to their miraculous beauty. These videos aim to shed new light on the meaning, context and structure of frequently-sung motets and anthems,to inspire singers with renewed appreciation.
The subject of the first talk is Tallis’s incomparable anthem, If ye love me, and will appear on this website – and on the SWEMF YouTube channel – in the autumn.
